Other Ancient Scriptures
In addition to Chun-Bu-Kyung, Sahm-Il-Shin-Go and Cham-Jeon-Gye-Kyung are two primary ancient scriptures of Tao Fellowship. Sahm-Il-Shin-Go teaches about Heaven, God, Creation and Human Beings, especially how individual human beings can get enlightened to the truth and become one with heaven. Cham-Jeon-Gye-Kyung teaches how to practice these principles of Tao in everyday life.
Sahm-Il-Shin-Go
I. Teachings about Heaven
Heaven is neither the blue sky nor the deep space. Heaven does not have a shape or form. It has no beginning or end. It has no up or down. It has no surroundings or directions. It is seemingly empty but full. It exists in everything and surrounds all.
II. Teachings about the God of Oneness
The God of Oneness has Its place solely with nothing above. With great love, great wisdom, and great power It has created Heaven and all living things of the universe. It governs the innumerable worlds in the cosmos. In doing so, It leaves not even the smallest. It is so bright and holy that It cannot be measured by human thoughts. Pray with your voice, energy, and sincere heart and you will meet with its presence. Seek God of Oneness in your own nature; It already resides in your brain.
III. Teachings about the Holy Palace
In Heaven is the Holy Palace for the God of Oneness. It always overflows with light and love. With the presence of the God of Oneness, being served by the uncountable bright and wise spirits, the Holy Palace is filled with the greatest goodness and the greatest virtues. Only those who have realized the True Self and have accomplished their heavenly missions can go to Heaven and become one with the God of Oneness in eternal bliss.
VI. Teachings about the World
Look at the infinite number of stars shining above. One cannot possibly count them all. Even their sizes, brightness, and lives are all different. The God of Oneness has created the universe and governs hundreds of worlds throughout. It may seem in your eyes that your world is the biggest of all, but it is nothing but a pebble. When the God of Oneness created the universe, a mass of energy in the center exploded and an infinite number of stars were created. Oceans turned to lands and the world acquired the form it has today. The God of Oneness breathed energy into the creation and brought warmth and colors from the sun so that all that grows from the ground and all creatures walking, flying, crawling, and swimming could prosper.
V. Teachings about Human Beings
Humans and all living things in the universe come from the same origin, One. One divides into three elements, which are True Self, True Life, and True Substance. Humans receive these three elements entirely, but all other creations receive them unevenly.
True Self is neither good nor evil, for this is the highest wisdom that enables one to become connected with all beings throughout the universe. True Life, the middle wisdom, which is neither pure nor impure, enables one to know everything. True Substance, the root wisdom, which is neither abundant nor scarce, enables one to sustain oneself. Thus, anyone who returns to the Truth can become one with the God of Oneness.
Three causes of delusion: Mind, Energy, and Body can sprout in all people if not enlightened. Mind, which relies on True Self, can be good or evil. Fortune comes when good is done, and misfortune befalls when evil is conducted. Energy relies on True Life and can be pure or impure. When pure, one lives long. When impure, one dies easily. Body, relies on True Substance and can be abundant or scarce. When abundant, one is noble. When scarce, one is vulgar.
When Truth (True Self, True Life, and True Substance) is mixed with Delusion (Mind, Energy, and Body), three phenomena: Emotion, Breathing, and Sensation arise. The phenomena then turn into eighteen states.
The states arising from Emotions are Joy, Fear, Sadness, Anger, Greed, and Hatred. The states arising from Breathing are Pure and Impure, Cold and Warm, and Dry and Wet. The states arising from Sensation are Sound, Light, Smell, Taste, Lust, and Touch. Those who are not enlightened become entangled with good and evil, pure and impure, and abundant and scarce. They run after haphazard states of mind and suffer from birth, growth, sickness, aging, and death.
Those who are enlightened, however, quiet emotions (Ji-Gam), regulate breathing (Jo-Shik), and withdraw sensations (Geum-Chok). They practice these continuously with a single mind, turn away from Delusion and move straight toward Truth. By exerting great divine energy, they realize True Self and accomplish their heavenly missions, which is the end of the growth to completion.
