The Sedona Mago Retreat is located 16 miles southwest of Sedona, Arizona, between Sedona and Cottonwood, and 11 miles from the entrance to Bill Gray Road. Sedona sits approximately 125 miles north of Phoenix and 40 miles south of Flagstaff, Arizona.
When you come to our retreat center by car, There is only one way to drive to SMR, by using Bill Grey Road, FS Road 761. If you are using a GPS and it usually navigates you to FS Road 525, please disregard this direction and call us immediately at 928-204-3391. We will guide you to the correct way. Driving on 525 to visit Sedona Mago Retreat is prohibited.

Take Interstate Highway I-17 North to the Cottonwood Exit (#287). Turn left and follow Hwy 260 toward Cottonwood for 12 miles to the intersection of Hwy. 89A. Turn right going toward Sedona. Go through two traffic lights and then you will see a brown sign indicating 761 or Bill Gray Road on your left side. Turn left onto Bill Gray Road.
Bill Gray Road is an unpaved forest service road. Follow this dirt road for approximately 10.8 miles until you see the sign for Ilchi Road on your right side.
Turn left at this sign, cross the cattle guard, and go approximately 1,000 feet to the Sedona Mago Retreat’s main gated entrance.
Directions from Flagstaff & Northern Arizona
Take 89A South through Sedona until you find a brown sign indicating 761 or Bill Gray Road on your right side and turn right onto Bill Gray Road. OR take I-17 south from Flagstaff to the Sedona exit (for Hwy. 179), follow 179 into Sedona and turn left onto Hwy. 89A (going toward Cottonwood). Follow Hwy. 89A through Sedona until you find a brown sign for 761 or Bill Gray Road on your right side, and turn right onto Bill Gray Road. From this point, follow the previously stated directions to reach Sedona Mago Retreat.
Traveling by Airplane & the Sedona-Phoenix Shuttle
At the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, you can rent a car or use the public shuttle service from the airport to Cottonwood, Arizona. Please say you are going to “Mago Garden”. If you use the shuttle service to get to the Sedona Mago Retreat, please make sure to call 928-204-3386 to arrange our Pick-up Service (from Mago Information Center to the our main property). When you arrive at Mago Information Center, a Sedona Mago Retreat staff person will pick you up as previously scheduled and bring you to the Sedona Mago Retreat.

Sedona Mago Retreat Shuttle Pickup Service
When you arrive at the Mago Information Center by the above shuttle bus, a Sedona Mago Retreat staff person will pick you up as previously scheduled and bring you to the Sedona Mago Retreat.
You must reserve your seat, informing the Guest Service Office in the Welcome House of your arrival time at least one week in advance. For your reservation, please refer to the shuttle schedule below, and fax when you plan to arrive (928-204-3398), or call the Welcome House (800-875-2256/928-204-3388). If your flight is delayed and you miss your shuttle, please phone to let us know what shuttle you will be on.

What to Bring When Coming to Sedona Mago Retreat
Jacket, long-sleeve shirt, long pants, comfortable loose clothing appropriate to the season, flashlight, alarm clock, toiletries, sneakers, body lotion, shampoo, sunscreen, hat, sun glasses, personal drinking water bottle, umbrella, raincoat.
Optional: hiking boots, slip-on shoes, camera, phone card, quarters for laundry, swimsuit, tote bag, and yoga mat
Regardless of the season, it is very important to bring a hat, sunscreen, and a flashlight
We do not have any phones or computers in our guest rooms for the sake of serenity and to maintain an environment conducive to training. But, if necessary, you can use the phone and access the Internet on the computer in the Welcome House. Local calls are free, and phone cards are sold in the gift shop for long-distance calls.
Because the Sedona Mago Retreat is in the middle of a desert and national forest with only small towns nearby, you and the center staff need to be ready to treat a variety of situations that might need medical attention. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you bring with you an ample supply of any medications, prescriptions, and devices that you think you might need based on your history of any medical problems or vulnerabilities. In the event of an emergency, we will drive you to the emergency room of a major hospital, Verde Valley Medical Center, in Cottonwood.
In keeping with the meditative atmosphere of Sedona Mago Retreat, there are no radios, television sets, or phones in the rooms. There is also no paging system for guests. No daily newspapers or news magazines are available. Telephone messages are posted on the bulletin board in the Welcome House. A courtesy telephone is available at the Welcome House; guests must use their own credit card or phone card for long-distance calls. To protect the environment, we provide soap only in the bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner and other toiletries are available at the Welcome House.
